About the project

During the project Design Phase, PNJ Engineering Inc. provided peer review services of geotechnical factual and design data, such as borehole logs for the subsurface information and monitoring wells, to assess the high groundwater levels. This was completed in order to support construction phases along with development and planning applications; such as, but not limited to, zoning by-law amendments, official plan amendments, draft plans of subdivisions, site plan applications, severance applications, site alteration applications, and external works agreements.

During the Construction Phase, the Town require PNJ to, 1) Provide inspections in order to confirm the compliance of the installation details with the approved engineering drawings and reports; and 2) Provide peer review services for field changes occurred during construction. To meet these requirements, PNJ overall project team is subdivided into three groups: a Peer Review Team, a Site Inspection Team and a material compliance team. Between these subteams, our staff is able to communicate and support each other through completion of all tasks of the Construction Phase requirements as one integrated project team. The Peer Review Team provides the peer review services for field changes that occurred during construction, Site Inspection Team provides the inspections necessary to confirm the compliance with the approved engineering drawings, reports and specifications, and material compliance team determines compliance/noncompliance with specified requirements. All the recommendations are presented to the client in writing. In addition, PNJ’s quality assurance and Health and Safety lead make sure that all teams are following the industry standards and are in compliance with the project’s Health and Safety requirements.

In the Post-Construction Phase, the Town requires PNJ to review as-constructed drawings and final reports to confirm their compliance with approved engineering drawings and specifications. Upon completion of the Construction Phase, PNJ’s geotechnical Peer Review Team provides the Town with a detailed review of the as-constructed drawings. Where certifications of trenches under roads or other structures is required, then the inspection on a full-time basis is required. PNJ provides experienced resources for such requirements.
